PPE has been blended with most specialty resins - the latter usually as a minor component. Exceptions are the PPE/PPS alloys. Their performance depends on the level of PPS crystallinity. The commercial blends, DIC PPS (introduced in 1982), were developed for the electrical, electronic, and mechanical industry. These show good processability, reduced flash in injection molding, toughness, high heat, and chemical resistance. [Pg.103]

Japan s Dainippon Ink and Chemicals (DIC) has pursued the alternate approach of combining polyester and PLA properties into one polymer. DIC developed a biodegradable copolymer called CPLA based on a co-polyester plus lactic acid. A higher ratio of co-polyester increases flexibility, while more lactic acid adds stiffness. One version of CPLA is reported to combine PS-like clarity with PP-like physical properties. [Pg.92]

Given the rather moderate selectivities reached with the helix-type peptides, Gilberston explored shorter peptide sequences exhibiting a p-turn secondary structure brought by the Pro-o-Yyy motif. As a starting point, the pentapeptide Ac-Pps-Pro-D-Ala-Pps-Gly was shown to catalyze the all)dic addition of dimethyl malonate to cyclopentenyl acetate with 60% ee in the presence of [Pd(r -allyl) (p-Cl)]2 [96]. The catalytic system was further improved by introducing more... [Pg.351]
