Radiography diagnostic

X-rays are primarily used for diagnostic radiography in medicine, and in crystallography. Other notable uses are x-ray microscopic analysis, x-ray fluorescence as an analytical method, and industrial radiography for inspection of industrial parts, such as tires and welds. [Pg.16]

Adjuncts used in addition to contrast agents in diagnostic radiography, under patient group directions, include laxatives, drugs to relax the bowel, normal saline and topical anaesthesia. [Pg.253]

There is a potential role for independent prescribers in diagnostic radiography, and this is particularly evident in areas of acute medical practice. There are examples of radiographers working in accident centres whose role involves diagnosis and on the basis of this they propose treatment and discharge patients (Snaith, 2007). This treatment can involve the supply and administration of medicines, particularly for pain relief. [Pg.308]

In addition, since 2003, podiatrists, physiotherapists and radiographers have been amongst those health care professionals who are allowed to supply and administer medicines under PGDs. This has proved particularly useful in certain situations. For example PGDs are used for the provision of medicines to counter the side effects of contrast agents used in diagnostic radiography. [Pg.319]

When X-radiography studies are not possible, theoretical calculations and spectroscopic studies can help in the structural characterization of C02 complexes. The most largely used as a diagnostic tool is infrared (IR) spectroscopy, both for the quantitative determination of C02 and for structural analysis. [Pg.57]

Chapters 4-6 address specific diagnostic methods in PEFCs. Martin et al. provide a detailed review of methods for distributed diagnostics of species, temperature, and current in PEFCs in Chapter 4. In Chapter 5, Hussey and Jacobson describe the operational principles of neutron radiography for in-situ visualization of liquid water distribution, and also outline issues related to temporal and spatial resolution. Tsushima and Hirai describe both magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) technique for visualization of water in PEFCs and tunable diode laser absorption spectroscopy (TDLAS) for measurement of water vapor concentration in Chapter 6. [Pg.403]

Clinical diagnostic methods for determining exposure and effects of asbestos include chest radiography, pulmonary function tests, and high resolution computerized tomography. Microscopic detection of asbestos bodies in autopsied or biopsied lung tissue can be used to confirm exposure when tissue is available. [Pg.427]

In justifying each type of diagnostic examination by radiography, fluoroscopy or nuclear medicine, relevant guidelines will be taken into account, such as those established by the WHO (1983, 1987, 1990). [Pg.284]

When puberty is delayed in a girl, measurement of serum gonadotropins is useful for diagnostic purposes. Low concentrations may indicate pituitary failure, whereas concentrations elevated mto the postmenopausal interval mdicate definite gonadal failure. In the latter case, chromosome studies are indicated. In the former case, pituitary function testing and radiography may be helpful. Patients... [Pg.2117]

Use Gamma radiography, radiochemical research, diagnostic aid, electronic devices. [Pg.54]
