Dextrose magnesium

HES is produced from 93—96% dextrose hydrolyzate that has been clarified, carbon-treated, ion-exchanged, and evaporated to 40—50% dry basis. Magnesium is added at a level of 0.5—5 mAf as a cofactor to maintain isomerase stabiUty and to prevent enzyme inhibition by trace amounts of residual calcium. The feed may also be deaerated or treated with sodium bisulfite at a level of 1—2-mAf SO2 to prevent oxidation of the enzyme and a resulting loss in activity.

Seizures associated with eciampsia Initial dose is 10 to 14 g magnesium sulfate. To initiate therapy, 4 g magnesium sulfate in water for injection (premixed) or 4 to 5 g in 250 ml of 5% dextrose injection or 0.9% sodium chloride injection administered IV. Simultaneously, 4 to 5 g magnesium sulfate administered IM into each buttock using 50% magnesium sulfate injection. 

Magnesium sulfate - Magnesium sulfate and cyclosporine in 5% dextrose stored in glass bottles at room temperature is stable for 6 hours.

The United States Food and Drug Administration issued a safety alert in 1994 regarding the potentially life-threatening formation of precipitates in parenteral nutrition admixtures (148). They had received reports of two deaths and at least two cases of respiratory distress during intravenous infusion of a three-in-one parenteral nutrition mixture (amino acids, carbohydrates, lipids). The mixture contained 10% FreAmine III (amino acids -I- magnesium acetate -I- phosphoric acid -I- potassium chloride -I- sodium acetate -I- sodium chloride), dextrose, calcium gluconate, potassium phosphate, other minerals, and a lipid emulsion. The solution may have contained a precipitate of calcium phosphate. Autopsies revealed diffuse microvascular pulmonary emboli containing calcium phosphate. 

The reductive pyrolysis of organic compounds in the presence of metals leads to the formation of the metal cyanide, which can be detected as Prussian blue (Fe4[Fe(CN)g]3) or by the copper(ii) acetate-benzidine test . Several metals and salts have been recommended for the fusion of the organic compound, e.g. potassium , sodium , magnesium mixed with potassium carbonate , zinc mixed with potassium carbonate , and a mixture of dextrose with sodium carbonate . When the compound contains sulphur the metal thiocyanate is also produced, which can be detected by ferric chloride . ... 

Powdered sugar and dextrose are aromatized, granulated with the addition of binding agents (fat, gelatine, gum arabic, tragacanth gum, starch) and lubricants (magnesium stearate), and tabletted under pressure. 

The interference criterion was an error of not more than 3 0 % in the absorbance. To test the efficiency and selectivity of the proposed analytical methods (A-C) to pharmaceutical formulations, we carried out a systematic study of additives and excipients (e.g. lactose, glucose, dextrose, talc, calcium hydrogen phosphate, magnesium stearate and starch) that usually present in dosage forms. Experiments showed that there was no interference from additives or excipients for methods A-C (Table 3).
