Torisawa [17] developed an alternative oxidative amidation of aldehydes using palladium chloride (PdCl2)-xantphos complex as a catalyst. The use of hydrogen peroxide (H2O2)-urea complex as oxidant prevents the formation of imine from the carbinolamine intermediate and minimizes the level of benzoic acid side... 

Carbon tetrafluoride is generated only under extreme conditions. The simultaneous presence of nitric oxide prevents chlorotrifluoromethane from being formed, even at high temperatures.

Depending on the chemical reactivity of the stilbene derivatives other oxidizing agents such as diphenyl selenide [73] and, with superior results, the recently discovered system iodide/propylene oxide in an inert gas atmosphere [74] have been applied.
