Poly(ethylene oxide). The synthesis and subsequent hydrolysis and condensation of alkoxysilane-terniinated macromonomers have been studied (39,40). Using Si-nmr and size-exclusion chromatography (sec) the evolution of the siUcate stmctures on the alkoxysilane-terniinated poly(ethylene oxide) (PEO) macromonomers of controlled functionahty was observed. Also, the effect of vitrification upon the network cross-link density of the developing inorganic—organic hybrid using percolation and mean-field theory was considered. [Pg.329]

Currently newly developed inorganic pigments were introduced to the market ... [Pg.3]

A few other players in the nuclear membranes activity also developed inorganic membranes for the filtration of liquids. This was the case with Norton-USA who with the know-how of Euroceral developed MF membranes made of an 0-AI2O3 tubular support with an a-Al203 layer. The inner tube diameter was 3 mm and the outer diameter 5 mm. In 1988-1989, Norton also produced the multichannel membrane elements. These membranes produced by Norton are now sold by Millipore under the trademark Ceraflo . [Pg.7]

Another participant in the French nuclear program, Le Carbone-Lorraine, developed inorganic membranes by combining their know-how in the field of membranes with their expertise in carbon. They developed tubular UF and MF membranes using a tubular carbon support (inner diameter 6 mm, outer diameter 10 mm). The carbon support is made of carbon fibers coated with and bonded by CVD carbon, the separating layers also being made of carbon. These membranes have been marketed since 1988. [Pg.7]

A systematic and logical approach to developing inorganic membranes that are effective for those challenging gas separation applications appears to be a development strategy based on a model incorporating plausible transport mechanisms (see section 7.3.3). The model is capable of predicting some unexpected separation performance which has been verified experimentally. [Pg.293]

In young children (<3 years) the blood-brain barrier (an anatomical barrier that limits access to the brain) is not fully developed. Inorganic lead circulating in the blood is much more likely to reach the brain in an infant or a very young child. [Pg.1517]

Considerable work has been carried out over the years to develop inorganic ion exchange materials. Apart from clays and zeolites, which were in fact the... [Pg.135]

In more recent developments inorganic separation layers have been developed, either by coating the porous substructure with a layer of zeolites [39], or by reducing the size of the pores to molecular dimensions by deposition of amorphous silica [40]. [Pg.178]

To develop inorganic and inorganic-oiganic polymeric materials, because many inoiganic molecules are more thermally stable than the organic ones. [Pg.357]

The solidly built organic chemistry mechanisms used the contemporary (in the 1920s) notion of electronic duplet and the ideas of nucleophilicity and electrophilicity, among others. A completely different arrangement of concepts comes out of the more recently developed inorganic reaction mechanisms, where the electronic situation is usually more complicated, and concepts like ligand field theory, Lewis acidity, hardness, etc. appear. [Pg.58]

The rationale used in developing inorganic bonded phase supports for SEC is based on the following facts ... [Pg.65]

The second approach is based on the surface modification of the nanocarriers with molecules that confer enzymatically triggered changes of the physical properties of the carrier solution. This approach is extremely versatile and has been mainly used in developing inorganic enzyme-responsive nanoparticles (Medintz et al, 2005 Stevens et al, 2004 Zelzer and Ulijn, 2010) for which use as DDS has not been so fully developed because of toxicological concerns. It will not therefore be discussed in this chapter. For further information the reader is referred to some excellent recent literature (de la Rica et al, 2012 Ghadiali and Stevens, 2008 Hu et al, 2012 Nie era/., 2009). [Pg.336]
