Design considerations performance tests

Hardware considerations for automated performance testing systems generally include the computer, software, monitor, and input devices. These features can be provided on multiple testing platforms, including personal computers, handheld personal digital assistants, Internet-based systems, or on platforms that are specially designed to simulate occupational contexts. [Pg.104]

As described above, performance testing is an important consideration in the design of a critical instrument loop. Components of the system must be selected for ease of testing, as well as for their ruggedness and reliability. [Pg.305]

Whitehead et al [1983] point out that the Conradson carbon residue test has a poor correlation with measured particles in the combustion gases. They suggest that the differences are probably due to the very different conditions in the laboratory bench test compared with the practical combustion conditions. In an industrial furnace the oil droplets undergo a high heating rate and under these conditions the level of pyrolysis residue (coke) formed can be considerably reduced. Droplet size (a fonction of atomiser design and performance) is likely to be an important factor that affects the droplet heating rate as described earlier. [Pg.454]

It has been proposed that the addition of other uncertainty components not taken into consideration by PT should also be performed. However, unlike a well-designed inter-laboratory test, confidentiality is usually an integral part of PT. It is unlikely that an individual laboratory would have access to the information required to determine the nature of the other uncertainty components. Additionally, given that participant methods are not identical and that robust statistics are used, uncertainty estimates may already be over-estimated. It is therefore assumed that the information derived from PT data are adequate. ... [Pg.318]

Another imcertainty factor is the number of drilling jar failures. The performance testing is not specifically designed to test the rehabUity of the jar. T3rpicaUy the jar is re-tested if a failure occurs during testing. Therefore there is considerable uncertainty related to the actual number of drilling jar failures. [Pg.793]

This chapter will outline the procedure for the design of plastics parts and give the methods of sizing, material selection, cost consideration, design life, performance evaluation, and testing. The monitoring of quality will be indicated to insure performance. All the basic information and approaches have been covered, thus this chapter is a synthesis of previous discussions. [Pg.251]

In the present study, experiments were conducted to determine the individual effects of solid properties (particle size, solids specific gravity) and solids concentration by weight, as well as tip clearance effects on an open impeller centrifugal pump characteristics. Tip clearance is varied from 1.25 mm to 8 mm over the experiments and maximum particle size was approximately 2.4 mm. Test results have shown that, slurry characteristics and running tip clearance have a considerable impact on the pump performance. These effects, therefore, must be taken into account for piunp design considerations and selection. [Pg.499]
