The source from which a document can be obtained is identified by an Availability Code. A list of Availability Codes is to be found in the introduction to the first issue of a CA volume. When no code is given for technical reports, deposited documents or dissertations, then the title itself has been included in the CAS Source Index and the appropriate sources for ordering the document are shown there (Sect. 3.1). 

Deposited documents, a type of Gray Literature, can be published in one of two ways ... 

The document is announced in the secondary literature, e.g. in a catalog of deposited documents. 

The arrangement of the abstracts within any one section in Chemical Abstracts is determined by the original document type (first, abstracts of journal articles, including citation of review articles, then abstracts about technical reports, deposited documents and dissertations, followed by announcements of new books and, finally, patent abstracts). The abstracts under the various document headings are arranged according to the content of the original publication (Subsections). 

Deposited documents non published documents, which are announced in the primary or —> secondary literature and which can be ordered as a complete publication by the organization concerned.
