Dental work

Inform clinician of signs and symptoms of bleeding prior to surgery, dental work inform clinician of sore throat, fever, etc. (consider neutropenia)...

Osteonecrosis of the jaw has been reported in patients receiving IV bisphosphonate therapy. The majority of the patients who developed osteonecrosis of the jaw were undergoing chemotherapy, taking corticosteroids, and had undergone a dental procedure (e.g., tooth extraction). The U.S. FDA recommends that patients receive a thorough dental examination before initiation of IV bisphosphonate therapy and that they avoid invasive dental work during treatment.
