Degree effective

Some early analogues designed as antagonists were butyl-3,5-diiodo-4-hydroxybenzoate (BHDB), which was designed as a deiodinase inhibitor and is, to a degree, effective as such, and 2 6 -diiodothyronine, which has a small antithyroid effect.

To a large degree, effective leadership is effective listaiing. A research study of managers and employees of a large hospital system found that listening explained 40% of the variance in leadership. That s a big correlation by social science standards. 

Figure 10.7 shows that the tradeoff between separation and net raw materials cost gives an economically optimal recovery. It is possible that significant changes in the degree of recovery can have a significant effect on costs other than those shown in Fig. 10.7 (e.g., reactor costs). If this is the case, then these also must be included in the tradeoffs. 

The effect of temperature on contact angle is seldom very great, as a practical observation. Some values of d0/dTare included in Table X-2 a common figure is about -0.1 degrees/K (but note the case of CS2 on ice also rather large temperature changes may occur in L1-L2-S systems (see Ref. 160). 

Surface active electrolytes produce charged micelles whose effective charge can be measured by electrophoretic mobility [117,156]. The net charge is lower than the degree of aggregation, however, since some of the counterions remain associated with the micelle, presumably as part of a Stem layer (see Section V-3) [157]. Combination of self-diffusion with electrophoretic mobility measurements indicates that a typical micelle of a univalent surfactant contains about 1(X) monomer units and carries a net charge of 50-70. Additional colloidal characterization techniques are applicable to micelles such as ultrafiltration [158]. 

Thus the kinetic and statistical mechanical derivations may be brought into identity by means of a specific series of assumptions, including the assumption that the internal partition functions are the same for the two states (see Ref. 12). As discussed in Section XVI-4A, this last is almost certainly not the case because as a minimum effect some loss of rotational degrees of freedom should occur on adsorption.
