Dedicated Schools Grant

School funding will change to three-year funding and an overall Dedicated Schools Grant (DSC) which will incorporate money from existing funding streams. 

Local authorities in England will receive a ring-fenced grant from the DfES for their school provision known as the Dedicated Schools Grant (DSG) with a minimum increase of 5 per cent each year. If they wish, local authorities can increase the DSG using other budgets to support Every Child Matters work. 

In the first law dedicated to the issues of asbestos in schools, the Asbestos School Hazard Detection and Control Act of 1980, Congress authorized the Department of Education to provide grants to schools to detect and abate asbestos hazards.
