DatA locus

This represents the locus of all the combinations of Ca and Om which cause fatigue failure in a particular number of cycles, N. For plastics the picture is slightly different from that observed in metals. Over the region WX the behaviour is similar in that as the mean stress increases, the stress amplitude must be decreased to cause failure in the same number of cycles. Over the region YZ, however, the mean stress is so large that creep rupture failures are dominant. Point Z may be obtained from creep rupture data at a time equal to that necessary to give (V cycles at the test frequency. It should be realised that, depending on the level of mean stress, different phenomena may be the cause of failure. [Pg.143]

Figure 6-14. Average domain size vs. inverse deposition temperature Tor different film thicknesses. Error bars represent the mean absolute error and straight lines the best lit for each film thickness. Doited line is the locus of the transition from grains to lamellae. Data for 50-nm films are estimated from the correlation length of the topography fluctuations. Adapted from Ref. [501. Figure 6-14. The defect population in the doped solid under moist conditions then consists of V%, OHo, h, and Y /x. The domains over which each species is dominant for conductivity can be represented diagrammatically when data concerning the conductivity of the solid has been measured (Fig. 8.20). In this representation, the conductivity fields are bounded by lines tracing the locus where the transport number for a pair of defects is equal to 0.5. (The diagram could equally well be drawn in terms of domains delineating the defect species that predominate.)... [Pg.390]

Figure 8.20 Charge carrier map representation of conductivity in the mixed conductor BaZr0.8Y0.2O3 8 at 773 K. The domains are areas within which conductivity of one species, H+, O2-, or h, predominate. Boundaries represent the locus of r(species) = 0.5. [Adapted from data in K. Nomura and H. Kageyama, Solid State Ionics, 178, 661-665 (2007).]... Figure 8.20 Charge carrier map representation of conductivity in the mixed conductor BaZr0.8Y0.2O3 8 at 773 K. Finally, there is the contour plot, which is used to depict the relationships in a three variable, continuous data system. That is, a contour plot visually portrays each contour as a locus of the values of two variables associated with a constant value of the third variable. An example would be a relief map that gives both latitude and longitude of constant altitude using contour lines. [Pg.947]

A constant interaction parameter was capable of representing the mole fraction of water in the vapor phase within experimental uncertainty over the temperature range from 100°F to 460°F. As with the methane - water system, the temperature - dependent interaction parameter is also a monotonically increasing function of temperature. However, at each specified temperature, the interaction parameter for this system is numerically greater than that for the methane - water system. Although it is possible for this binary to form a three-phase equilibrium locus, no experimental data on this effect have been reported. [Pg.403]
