Data feedback

The challenge for the drug discovery organization is how to handle the resource issues for multiple screening data feedback. Often a combination of experimental screens and computational prediction approaches will be used. Rapid data feedback to the medicinal chemist is essential, whether the data is experimental or computational. Data delayed is data with greatly reduced value. 

We developed the mathematical tool of z transformation in the last chapter. Now we are ready to apply it to analyze the dynamics of sampled-data systems. Our primary task is to design sampled-data feedback controllers for these systems. We will explore the very important impact of sampling period 7 on these designs. 

In this chapter we look at more complex sampled-data feedback controllers and at some interesting processes openloop unstable and deadtime processes. 

Ideally the ADME/Tox screening laboratory service vould be set up to fiexibly offer choice in the screening strategy that best fits the current campaign circumstances. It vould also provide real-time data feedback both to enable researchers to use the critical information to make decisions on further testing and to reduce cycle times by eliminating compounds midcampaign [6].

Fossil fuel power plants, in the context of electric generating stations, produce only one product electricity. Any and all other materials that come from them are considered ancillary or waste by-products. The ultimate goal of operating a fossil fuel power plant is to maximize the output of electricity from each unit of fuel consumed, while also minimizing any and all undesirable outputs. To that end, the efficiencies of control design, the data feedback process, economics, fuel processing, and a host of other aspects of the electric power generation industrial complex are examined each year. Not the least of these considerations is the placement and construction of new facilities and the maintenance of older facilities. 

Where do observers get observation checklists and how do they submit completed observations You will also need to plan the administrative aspects of supporting observations, as in where employees obtain blank observation checklists and, after the observations are completed, how they submit the checklists to the steering committee. As part of the data feedback process described in the next chapter, you may want to establish a safety bulletin board in each area. This board can display the blank checklist, and it is a good area in which to locate drop boxes for submitting completed observations. In some cases employees can submit completed observations through interoffice mail, and in others the observers can enter their observation data into a computerized database.
