The discharge characteristics and specific energy of experimental primary alkaline button cells, with zinc anodes and Fe(VI) compounds cathodes, were measured and compared to those with Mn02 cathodes. These data are plotted in Figure 25.30 and Ulustrate the higher energy output of the cells fabricated with the Fe(VI) cathodes. Similar results were obtained with cells fabricated in the conventional cylindrical construction. [Pg.744]

Batteries have been build in a spirally wound cylindrical D size. Table 34.15 lists the design parameters. This D-cell battery employed an alloy anode of 85% Li-15% Al. Figure 34.20a shows the discharge characteristics of the battery at several discharge rates and Fig. 34.20(> shows the cycle life characteristics. The declining capacity of the cell with cycling is attributed to increasing impedance of the cathode. ... [Pg.1042]

In Europe BASF, in cooperation with Varta Batteries AG, Kelkheim, has successfully produced commercial PPy, and the production of batteries with capacities of 90 A h kg is to be expected in the near future [89,94]. The prototype cells of the type PPy (positive electrode)/LiC104-PC/Li (negative electrode) exhibit excellent charge/discharge characteristics, having undergone some 500 cycles with minimal effect on performance. The construction of the battery is of cylindrical sandwich type. [Pg.22]

Discharge characteristics of Duracell cylindrical and low-rate button lithium-manganese dioxide cells are shown, respectively, in Figures 56.11 and 56.12. [Pg.670]
