Solvent is removed from the flask by rotary evaporation, leaving a brown solid. This is extracted with acetone ( 1 L) and the extracts are filtered through Whatman No. 1 filter paper. Solvent is removed from the filtrate by rotary evaporation to give a yellow-brown solid. This is washed with THF until the THF is colorless and dried under oil pump vacuum to give [Re(f/ -C5Hs)(NO)(CO)2]- BF4 (9.12 g, 21.5 mmol, 90%) as a yellow solid. [Pg.213]
