Curtain storage

The outside walls of the curtain storage rooms have been furred out with two-by-fours covered with plywood and painted. This false wall has a 4" spacing behind to prevent condensation. Box valances are held in place on the walls with L-shaped brackets flat valances are attached by means of snaps or Velcro tape. There are no windows in the storage rooms and the rooms are kept in total darkness. 

We put a lot of effort into improving safety by adding protective equipment onto our plants, new and old gas detectors, emergency isolation valves, interlocks, steam curtains, fire insulation, catchment pits for LPG storage tanks, and so on. We also introduced new procedures, such as hazard and operability studies and modification control, or persuaded people to follow old ones, such as permits-to-work and audits. 

Rooms above 100 m tend to be used for long-term storage, and are probably fitted with curtains (air or plastic, see Chapter 20). For such rooms, the service heat gain by convection may be taken as...

The air temperature of the intermediate cell is assumed to be equal to 15 °C. This intermediate cell is dehumidified by the membrane contactor system placed at the evaporator inlet. Gases are stored at atmospheric pressure in wet- or dry-seal gas holders. The wet-gas holder maintains a liquid seal of water or oil between the top movable inside tank and the stationary outside tank. In the dry-seal holder the seal between the two tanks is made by means of a flexible rubber or plastic curtain. Recent developments in bulk natural gas or gas-product storage show that pumping the gas into underground strata is the cheapest method available. High-pressure gas is stored in spherical or horizontal cylindrical pressure vessels.

Mr. du Pont s concerns extended to the care of textiles during storage (3) Every April and October the materials in the room bins in the bedspread room and those in the carpet room are to be dusted and refolded, and all the bins are to be thoroughly cleaned. Also, the carpet room and the curtain and bedspread rooms are to be thoroughly cleaned and should be dusted once a month at least. Moreover, [t]he rug room, bedspread room, and curtain room. . . are to be kept a uniform moderate temperature both winter and summer, and the air is to be filtered, cooled, etc., and the dirty filter cloth changed every day or so as it is done now.. . . Sprinkler system design criteria in standards published by the NFPA and FM were developed without the use of draft curtains and automatic heat and smoke vents. FM does not require heat and smoke vent installation. However, FM Loss Prevention Data Sheet 8-9, Storage of Class 1,2, 3, 4, and Plastic Commodities, recommends that heat and smoke vents be manually actuated in sprinklered warehouses, if installed. Conversely, IRI recommends automatic heat and smoke vents in sprinklered buildings except where early-suppression fast-response (ESFR) sprinkler systems are used. 

General Description. The general layout of the canal is shown by Fig. 6.1.A. The main section of the canal is 8 ft wide and extends eastward from the east face of the reactor. The canal section that lies partially beneath the reactor west wall is 6 ft wide. Connecting the above two sections is a 7-ft-wide section through the sub-piie room. The 7-ft width of this section provides ample space for the canal unloading mechanism and storage of the neutron curtain. 

Seams Seams in the sheeting materiai shouid be minimized to reduce the possibiiities of accidentai rips and tears in the adhesive or connections. Areas Within an Enclosure Each enciosure consists of a work area, a decontamination area, and waste storage area. The work area where the asbestos removai operations occur should be separated from both the waste storage area and the contamination controi area by physicai curtains, doors, and/or airfiow patterns that force any airborne contamination back into the work area.
