Current Trends in the Construction Design Process

A current trend in the area of product construction design is toward a purposeful systematic approach. The properties of the quality and safety of a final product are the crucial parameters of product development. 

The focus of the systematic approach is not only on the preproduction and production stages, that is, the construction design and prodnction technology design, but also on the issues of ensuing product recycling as a part of its technological lifespan 

One of the crucial product usage parameters is the consumer s satisfaction, which requires a manufacturer to create a high-quality, safe, and reliable product. Based on this, designing for safety is a systematic and methodical activity and utilizes a variety of standardized procedures in the process of creating a final product with partial objectives and the final objective being taken into account. 

The more economically developed the society is, the more attention is paid to safety issues. The Slovak Republic as one of the EU member states treats the issues according to Act No. 264/1999 Coll, on Technical Requirements for Products and on Conformity Assessment and Government s Decree No. 436/2008. The given enactments are further amended by the Slovak government s decree on technical requirements for machinery. 

Machinery must be designed so its operation, settings, and maintenance are not harmful to people and property, provided that the machinery is used under the expected conditions. The aim of the measures applied must be the elimination or reduction of risk of any sort of injury occurrence during the expected lifespan of the machinery, or of property destruction during the lifespan, even under operating conditions that are not in compliance with the technical requirements for operation.
