Curing agents for epoxide resins

Amine curing agents may be primary or secondary amines, aliphatic, ahcychc or aromatic. The reaction with an epoxide resin is an addition reaction where the amine links directly with an epoxide group to form a [Pg.222]

These consist of organic anhydrides and are used in roughly stoichiometric proportions with epoxide resins. The anhydride commonly used are the [Pg.223]

Various accelerators can be used with epoxy/anhydride systems to promote cure. Some accelerators in use are  [Pg.223]

The polyamides used to cine epoxide resins are all reactive compounds with free amine groups. They may be amidopolyamines, aminopolyamides [Pg.223]

Several other types of curing agent are used with epoxide resins for laminating applications or in moulding compounds. Examples of these curing agents are  [Pg.224]

The epoxide/cyanate compositions contain catalysts of cyanate cyclotrimerization and oxazoline ring formation. Curing agents for epoxide resin are mentioned in... [Pg.50]

Aliphatic, low molecular weight, branched polyamides of dimer fatty acids with di- and triethylenediamine are among the most widely used curing agents for epoxide resins. The chemistry of their formation is similar to that observed for the aforementioned crystalline linear polyamides. [Pg.98]

Primary amines and carboxylic acids are commonly used as curing agents for epoxy resins owing to the reaction of amino and carboxylic groups with the epoxide ring according to Eqs. (1)—(3) ... [Pg.180]

Molar excess of epoxynovolak resin was reacted with DDS highly branched aminoepoxide resin was thus obtained. The resin was then mixed with a non-modified epoxide resin, BPA/DC-BMI copolymer, benzoyl peroxide and /V-(3,4-dichloro-phenyI)-Ar, Ar -dimethyIurea (curing agent for the epoxy component) [116]. [Pg.55]

Cured epoxy-anhydride systems exhibit excellent thermal, mechanical, and electrical properties, and are used in filament-wound epoxy pipe, PCB laminates, mineral-filled composites, and electrical casting and encapsidation applications. Anhydride-cin-ed epoxies also have better aqueous acid resistance than similar amine-cured systems. Anhydrides are the principal curing agents for cycloaliphatic and epoxidized olefin resins in electrical casting and potting. Some... [Pg.2712]

Epoxidized phenol novolak and cresol novolak are the most common curing agents. The composition of the resin and hardener system is optimized for each specific appHcation eg, incorporating phenol novolaks in the matrix resin can iacrease cure speed. [Pg.531]

Few non.chemists know exactly what an epoxide is. but practically everyone has used an "epoxy glue for household repairs or an epoxy resin for a protective coating. Epoxy resins and adhesives generally consist of two components that are mixed just prior to use. One component is a liquid "prepolymer/ and the second is a "curing agent" that reacts with the prepolymer and causes it to solidify. [Pg.673]

A cement slurry additive consisting of methylcellulose, melamine-formaldehyde resin, and trioxane has been proposed for better bonding of cement to the casing string [20]. Bisphenol-A epoxide resins, with amine-based curing agents, sand filler, and a mixture of n-butanol and dimethyl benzene as a diluent, have been proposed as additives to increase adhesion properties of cement [572]. [Pg.146]
