Cured hardness

Rubber separators have good voltage characteristics, the ability to retard antimony transfer, properties to retard dendrite growth, and good electrochemical compatibility. Due to the hydrophilic properties of the rubber composition, the separators are highly wettable and renewable for the dry-charging process. Paik et al. showed that AGE-SIL (sulfur cured, hard rubber) separators performed well in industrial stationary or traction batteries. FLEX-SIL (electron-beam-cured. flexible rubber separator) separators are suited for deep-cycling batteries, and MICROPOR-... [Pg.208]

Epoxy resin was cured with polyamine, polyamide, or anhydride ground to pass a 0.5-mm screen and 20 was recycled into the next batch of virgin resin, either directly or after pre-soaking in the liquid ingredients. When these "filled" resins were cured, hardness was generally higher than for virgin resins. [Pg.237]

Melamine-Formaldehyde. These resins became commercial in the 1930s. Their combination of high thermosetting reactivity, cured hardness, and resistance to heat, weather, and chemical environments made them particularly valuable for their good appearance and durability (Table 15.23). [Pg.661]

Drying time n. (1) Time required for an applied film of a coating to reach the desired stage of cure, hardness, or non-tackiness (See dry, dry-hard, dust-free time, set-to-touch time, sand-dry, through-dry, dry-to-handle time, touch-dry, tack-free, surface drying, dry-to-recoat time, and dry-to-sand). HER is a common aromatic diol that is used to give a higher cured hardness than 1,4-butanediol can give when used in MDI-based prepolymers. [Pg.192]

CTP is used as a rubber compound additive to extend scorch safety time so that the rubber compound can be processed further in the factory without generating scrap. Also, CTP does not reduce the cured hardness or slow the cure rate as a conventional retarder would. The addition of CTP generates little or no change in the properties and performance of the cured compounded rubber. [Pg.313]

Phthalic anhydride is another common chemical that is sometimes used as a rubber retarder. Because it is an organic acid anhydride, it naturaiiy increases the scorch safety time of a nonhaiogenated rubber-based compound. However, it aiso siows down the cure rate and may hurt the uitimate cured hardness, moduius, and state of cure of the compound itseif. [Pg.316]

Bisphenols were developed to overcome some of the limitations of the diamines. These curatives require an accelerator for fast cure rates, and a phosphonium salt is employed for this purpose, as shown in Table 13.10. Higher levels of the bisphenol. Curative 30, increase the state of cure (hardness and modulus) whereas higher levels of the onium salt. Curative 20, increase the rate of ciu e. [Pg.420]
