An example is useful to demonstrate how one industry, retail, has coped with the need for collaboration. There is a lot at stake in this industry. Doing a better job of matching supply and demand means increased sales [Pg.42]

Efficient Consumer Response (ECR) and Collaborative Planning, Forecasting and Replenishment (CPFR) both are operations models in the consumer goods industry to ensure delivery capability and avoid stockouts based on an automated replenishment of outlets using product inventory, historic and/or planned sales information at the point-of-sales (POS). CPFR focuses on a close cooperation between retailer and manufacturer. ECR focus on the customer-facing reaction on customer responses in logistics, sales and promotions. [Pg.50]

Special concepts such as VMI or CPFR share the characteristic to be volume and supply-focused as in supply chain management. Although the terms may differ, the detailed processes and tasks match the overall value chain management framework, since the anatomy of the value chain is considered not to be different. [Pg.64]

The plug flow reactor (PFR) is conceptually the simplest example of a LCFR all fluid elements have the same axial velocity, and therefore they have the same residence time or age at the exit, which would correspond to the batch reactor time. But, unlike the batch reactor in the CPFR there is no mixing of the species except by diffusion. Figure 11.9(a) schematizes a CPFR. [Pg.616]

(b) A tabular flow reactor (TFR) with (tq) miscible thin disk of reactive component deformed and distributed (somewhat) by the shear field over the volume, and (b2) immiscible thin disk is deformed and stretched and broken up into droplets in a region of sufficiently high shear stresses, (c) SSE reactor with (cj) showing laminar distributive mixing of a miscible reactive component initially placed at z = 0 as a thin slab, stretched into a flat coiled strip at z L, and (c2) showing dispersive mixing of an immiscible reactive component initially placed at z — 0 as a thin slab, stretched and broken up into droplets at z — L. In a totally segmented CPFR of the stratified agitated tower design, the feed stream is considered to enter the reactor as macro-molecular capsules which maintain their integrity throughout their life-time inside the reactor. The capsules each act as though they were batch reactors and theoretically should produce a monodisperse polystyrene having a Poisson distribution. [Pg.79]

Users require collaborative tools—DSS wiU need to aUow for collaboration in the same company and across different companies. One of the first tools in this area is the forecasting portion of collaborative planning forecasting and replenishment (CPFR), which aUows partner companies to collaborate on forecasting and utilizes a DSS that assists in finding discrepancies in the process. [Pg.2019]

In this section, it will be performed a literature review for each one of the four categories of the Demand management - Statistical Forecast, Sales and Operations Planning (S OP), Collaborative Plaiming and Forecasting Replenishment (CPFR) and Vendor managed Inventory (VMI). This review allowed identify the DDSC characteristics for each category which was used to develop the five level maturity model. [Pg.42]

For people driven forecast, it is suggested to apply Sales and Operations Planning (S OP) and Collaborative Planning and Forecast Replenishment (CPFR), as they represent structured and formal processes to align demand figures across different functional areas and different organizations. [Pg.45]
