Corrosion resistant polymers

In addition to the gas-phase work, we are computing (2) the vibrational spectra and rotational barriers of polymer fragments to help interpret experiments. By achieving a better understanding of polymers and their chemistry, we hope to design longer lifetime and more corrosion resistant polymers. 

The oxacyclobutane derivative, 3,3-bischloromethyloxacyclobutane, is polymerized (structure 5.26) using cationic ROP giving a water-insoluble, crystalline, corrosion-resistant polymer sold under the trade name of Penton. 

Since PVG hdpe, and polyesters are resistant to most nonoxidizing corrosives and are less expensive and more readily processed than the polyfluorocarbons, they may be used in many instances as corrosion-resistant polymers. 

Furan polymer concrete is a corrosion-resistant polymer material. Endurance tests (a year or more) showed high resistance of this material to most industrial chemicals, except oxidants (nitric acid, acetic acid) and some solvents (acetone, benzene, alcohol). 

Corrosion-resistant polymer coatings containing rare earth compounds... 

Ceriirm-based eCoat and praseodymimn-based epoxy corrosion resistant polymer coatings will be rrsed to provide example systems of rare earth-based systems that are able to meet the requirements of advanced corrosion coatings for industrial use.
