Cooling reflective

The experimental conditions used to determine the CFPP do not exactly reflect those observed in vehicles the differences are due to the spaces in the filter mesh which are much larger in the laboratory filter, the back-pressure and the cooling rate. Also, research is continuing on procedures that are more representative of the actual behavior of diesel fuel in a vehicle and which correlate better with the temperature said to be operability , the threshold value for the Incident. In 1993, the CEN looked at two new methods, one called SFPP proposed by Exxon Chemicals (David et al., 1993), the other called AGELFI and recommended by Agip, Elf and Fina (Hamon et al., 1993). [Pg.215]

Transitions. Samples containing 50 mol % tetrafluoroethylene with ca 92% alternation were quenched in ice water or cooled slowly from the melt to minimise or maximize crystallinity, respectively (19). Internal motions were studied by dynamic mechanical and dielectric measurements, and by nuclear magnetic resonance. The dynamic mechanical behavior showed that the CC relaxation occurs at 110°C in the quenched sample in the slowly cooled sample it is shifted to 135°C. The P relaxation appears near —25°C. The y relaxation at — 120°C in the quenched sample is reduced in peak height in the slowly cooled sample and shifted to a slightly higher temperature. The CC and y relaxations reflect motions in the amorphous regions, whereas the P relaxation occurs in the crystalline regions. The y relaxation at — 120°C in dynamic mechanical measurements at 1 H2 appears at —35°C in dielectric measurements at 10 H2. The temperature of the CC relaxation varies from 145°C at 100 H2 to 170°C at 10 H2. In the mechanical measurement, it is 110°C. There is no evidence for relaxation in the dielectric data. [Pg.366]

Fig. 4. In the Solar Two Project a molten salt system shown in the scheme replaces Solar One s water/steam system. In operation, "cold" molten salt is pumped from a storage tank to a receiver on a tower. Sunlight reflected from a field of sun-tracking mirrors heats the salt in the receiver to 1050°C. The heated salt then flows down into a hot storage tank where it is pumped to a heat exchanger to produce the steam that drives a turbine. Some of the hot molten salt can also be stored to produce steam on demand at a later time. Salt cooled to 550°C in the steam generator recirculates through the system and... Fig. 4. Calcium carbonate makes up the largest amount of deposit in many cooling water systems (Fig. 4.16) and can be easily detected by effervescence when exposed to acid. Deposits are usually heavily stratified, reflecting changes in water chemistry, heat transfer, and flow. Corrosion may be slight beneath heavy accumulations of fairly pure calcium carbonate, as such layers can inhibit some forms of corrosion. When nearly pure, calcium carbonate is white. However, calcium carbonates are often intermixed with silt, metal oxides, and precipitates, leading to severe underdeposit attack. [Pg.73]

Are liquids used to cool or purge seals compatible with materials processed in the equipment If so, are temperature, pressures, and materials appropriate for the seal components and reflected in procedures ... [Pg.87]

Sketch the structures that you would expect to see if you looked at polished sections of the samples under a reflecting light microscope. Label the phases, and any other features of interest. You may assume that each specimen has been cooled moderately slowly from a temperature of 1100°C. [Pg.124]

The price of air-cooled exchangers should be obtained from vendors if possible. If not, then by coirelating in-house historical data on a basis of /ft of bare surface vs. total bare surface. Correction factors for materials of construction. pressure, numbers of tube rows, and tube length must be used. Literature data on air coolers is available (Reference 15). but it should be the last resort. In any event, at least one air-cooled heat exchanger in each project should be priced by a vendor to calibrate the historical data to reflect the supply and demand situation at the expected time of procurement. [Pg.233]

Note that the only other plutonium production site in the U.S. was at Richland, Wa.shington where graphite-reflected light water cooled reactors were used. [Pg.416]

The effect of supply air temperature on jet behavior in confined spaces was studied by Miillejans. Studies of cooled air jets were conducted in rooms with a size from 1.0 m x 1.0 m x 1.6 m to 2.27 m x 3.33 m x 5.31 m with an air supply through the slot (b = or rectangular opening (h B. . Numerous smoke photographs were taken reflecting supply situa-... [Pg.488]
