Cooling load sizing

Such types of loads may require special design of capacitor elements and their dielectric impregnation, cooling arrangement, size of shell or surface treatment. For all these applications therefore it is important to know the actual operating conditions, behaviour and characteristic of the load and its duty cycle before selecting the capacitors. [Pg.818]

The impact of incorrect equipment sizing practices is magnified in an energy-efficient home that has dramatically reduced heating and cooling loads. [Pg.207]

To handle a peak cooling load with a reduced size of refrigeration plant, typically to make ice over a period of several hours and then use ice water for the cooling of a batch of warm milk on a dairy farm. This is also used at main creameries, to reduce peak electricity loads. The available water is very close to freezing point, which is the ideal temperature for milk cooling. [Pg.153]

Where cooling loads are required for a large building of many separate rooms, it will be helpful to arrive at total loads for zones, floors and the complete installation, as a guide to the best method of conditioning and the overall size of plant. In such circumstances, computer programs are available which will provide the extra data as required. [Pg.267]

Examination of the items which comprise the total cooling load may throwup peak loads which can be reduced bylocalized treatment such as shading, modification of lighting, removal of machines, etc. A detailed analysis of this sort can result in substantial savings in plant size and future running costs. [Pg.271]

Ground loop must be sized to meet the heating and cooling loads during extreme weather conditions. [Pg.122]

This is a considerable cooling load for a system of this size. [Pg.57]

The approach has a significant effect on the tower size, as shown in Figure 5.11. For a given heat load, gpm and wet-bulb temperature, the cooling tower size increases as the approach decreases, and the closer the cold water temperature approaches the wet-bulb temperature, the greater the increase in the cooling tower size. [Pg.108]

Any changes in the load size, load configuration, or container characteristics (volume, geometry, etc.) must be accompanied by repeat validation studies to prove that the cool spot location has not changed or, if it has, that it receives the design F0 time exposure from the sterilization cycle used. [Pg.142]

The trend now is away from wooden construction. With advances in fabrication techniques for plastics, preassembled plastic towers are now being used in larger size [12]. These are available in modules with ratings up to 10 GJ hr cooling load. While they cost about 20% more than most wooden towers, they are more easily installed. Fireproofing is not necessary, and the tower blowdown contains no preservatives. [Pg.1185]

Only very small amounts of oil, less than one drop with most small and medium-sized ball and roUer bearings, are sufficient to provide a full EHL film (5). In such cases, a small amount of grease or oil mist balances lubricant loss by vaporization, creepage, and throw-off. With high surface speeds and heavy loads, however, much larger lubricant feed is needed for cooling and makeup. [Pg.237]

Finisli-Grinding of Cement Clinker Typically the hot clinker is first cooled and then ground in a compartment mill in closed circuit with an air classifier. To crush the chukers, balls as large as 5 in may be needed in the first compartment. A roll press added before the ball mill can reduce clinkers to a fine size, ana thus reduce the load on the ball mills. The main reasons for adding a roll press has been to increase capacity of the plant, and lower cost. [Pg.1871]
