Continuous treating

An important newer use of fluorine is in the preparation of a polymer surface for adhesives (qv) or coatings (qv). In this apphcation the surfaces of a variety of polymers, eg, EPDM mbber, polyethylene—vinyl acetate foams, and mbber tine scrap, that are difficult or impossible to prepare by other methods are easily and quickly treated. Fluorine surface preparation, unlike wet-chemical surface treatment, does not generate large amounts of hazardous wastes and has been demonstrated to be much more effective than plasma or corona surface treatments. Figure 5 details the commercially available equipment for surface treating plastic components. Equipment to continuously treat fabrics, films, sheet foams, and other web materials is also available. [Pg.131]

In a patented process, a stirred suspension of sodium sulfite is continuously treated with aqueous sodium hydroxide and a sulfur dioxide-containing gas at 60—85°C, and 96% pure anhydrous sodium sulfite is removed by filtration (336). In another continuous one-step process, substantially anhydrous sodium carbonate and sulfur dioxide are concurrently introduced into a saturated solution of sodium sulfite at pH 6.5—7.6 and above 35°C with continuous removal of sodium sulfite (337). [Pg.149]

Locap A process for removing mercaptans from gasoline by catalytic oxidation to disulfides, using a fixed bed of catalyst that is continuously treated with aqueous sodium sulfide. Commercialized by Petrolite Corporation in 1963. [Pg.165]

Is an in-line treatment that continuously treats wastewater. [Pg.879]

Flowlines are continuously treated with AA before shut-in, eliminating the need for instantaneous corrective actions (e.g., flowline depressurization) on shut-in. [Pg.668]

Probably the most challenging situation is to provide care for a patient who has no insurance. This often means that the patient is unemployed, between jobs, or has suffered a catastrophic loss. Many ethical issues are embedded in financial decisions about providing care. One way to address these issues is to find out what resources exist in the community for medically indigent patients. If it becomes financially impossible to continue treating a patient, therapists can still remain advocates and consultants in helping the patient find the best possible care he or she can afford—regardless of whether the therapists are compensated for their time. Some examples of this type of financial advocacy include the following ... [Pg.211]
