Continuing Education and Training

Not only must safety professionals acquire the knowledge and skill to perform their functions effectively in their employment context, through continuing education and training they stay current with new technologies. 

For a strong safety culture, the organization must have developed emphasis on the positive values of the safety management system. The culture should have deeply embedded beliefs in the value of continuous education and training, as it ensures that all employees have a working knowledge of how the system operates and their responsibilities for continuous learning.

Where process capability relies upon the competence of personnel, personnel operating such processes need to be appropriately educated and trained and undergo examination of their competency. Where there is less reliance on personnel but more on the consistency of materials, environment, and processing equipment, operations should be monitored continuously by inspection, observation, or other techniques. 

Participates in continuing technical education and training programs both as an individual and through attendance at scheduled drills and classes. 

There is continued focus on adverse drug events and medication errors. Processes must respond to actual or potential adverse drug events and medication errors and properly report them internally and externally (e.g., to the FDA, ISMP, or USP). Other standards address how adverse drug events and medication errors should be addressed to improve systems, support staff education and training, and minimize the risk of medication-related errors and adverse events. 

The education and training, certification, and continuing education of pharmacy technicians are similar in some ways to those of pharmacists. 

TANF recipients to become self-sufficient within programme time limits - this may be regarded as activation of law makers and welfare agencies and (3) TANF leavers receive continued supportive services and transition benefits including Food Stamps and transitional Medicaid. However, within work-related expenditures the share of education and training only amounts to 14%. 

All health care professionals who are involved with supplementary prescribing will require continuing professional development (CPD). Practitioners have a responsibility to keep themselves up to date with clinical and professional developments. Since 2005, podiatrists (and others) have also had to meet the requirements of the Standards for Continuing Professional Development of the Health Professions Council. This is a self-declaration, which has to be kept current with practice within an individual s practice. It is subject to periodic audit, requiring the submission of evidence of CPD to the HPC. Employers should allow practitioners access to relevant education and training. The Department of Health has commissioned CPD support for supplementary prescribers through the National Prescribing Centre (see www.npc.co.uk). 

The personnel must receive general continuing education and special training in every new method of control and instrumentation introduced into the laboratory.
