Hybride micro-FIA systems produced in silicon technology using oxygen microelectrodes and microcavities have been developed for measuring phosphate concentrations [96]. Multiple analyte biosensor arrays can also be realized using thin film and silicon technology. The so-called containment technology has been applied to immobilize enzymes in three dimensional cavities formed in silicon wafers to get fully process compatible biosensor devices [97] (Fig. 5). [Pg.201]

Overall, the trend toward high-potency and low-dose dmg products is leading to an increased use of containment technology. Use of multiple-function process equipment as well as containers that are compatible with all unit operations is preferred. Any plan for a new or renovated facility that will include contained manufacturing must account for these features. [Pg.45]

Slurry milling also affords better containment than dry milling by lowering the amount of dry powder handling. While advances have been made in containment technologies, exposure or opportunity for exposure is increased as dry product has a propensity to migrate and become airborne more so than product in a suspension. [Pg.213]

The last section of the book is devoted to a few very important topics in development of low-dose drug products, including regulatory perspectives and containment technologies used in analytical laboratories and manufacturing plants. I hope that this combination of topics will enable the readers to obtain a broad overview on development of low-dose dmg products. [Pg.476]

Control Structure. The rules are invoked in a backward-chaining scheme that produces a depth-first search—that is, the inference engine tries to satisfy a goal by evaluating all rules that lead to that goal. Heuristic rules were used as much as possible to shorten the search. For example, the system may ask the user to select the desired response action, either containment or treatment of the wastes. If the user chooses containment, rules for treating the main wastes will not be activated. If by-products of the containment technologies require treatment, however, rules for treatment will still be explored. [Pg.177]

The storage of hydrogen in solid-solution materials is characterized by endothermic and exothermic phase change reactions. The thermodynamic nature of these reactions requires the full characterization of influential material properties to enable the optimization of heat and mass transfer within the system. Additionally, the thermodynamic nature of the materials will define the containment technologies required to withstand the operational pressures and temperatures. [Pg.83]
