World consumption data by end use in 1987 are shown in Table 8 (39). Solvent appHcations account for the largest use of acetone worldwide, followed by production of acetone cyanohydrin for conversion to methacrylates. Aldol chemicals are derivatives of acetone used mainly as solvents (40). 

The principal routes by which synthetic ammonia is processed into finished fertilizers are shown in Figure 3. Also included are U.S. consumption data on each of these products for the crop year ended June 30, 1990.

Quantities of potassium sulfate produced and consumed as potassium magnesium sulfate [13826-56-7] K2S0-2MgS04, are omitted in the U.S. Department of the Interior reports as classified information. Consumption data for potassium compounds identified as other potassium salts imply that the amount of potassium magnesium sulfate consumed in the United States is about double that of K SO. This gap is expected to widen as soils become more depleted of natural magnesium- and sulfur-containing minerals.

The estimated 1990 worldwide consumption of monochloramine for hydra2iae manufacture was 55,000 t. Consumption data on use of monochloramine ia water treatmeat are aot available. The vendor should also supply steam consumption data. However, for initial planning the process engineer needs to have an estimate. Use the following equations to calculate the horsepower required to compress noncondensing components from the jet inlet pressure and temperature to the outlet pressure.

An indication of the usefulness of polyurethanes can be found in worldwide consumption data as of 2000, urethanes of all types amounted to 9.25 million tons.10 The commercial success of urethane polymers can be attributed to the ability to conveniently manufacture and apply materials with specific combinations of physical properties. Furthermore, urethanes are often the best choice in demanding, high-performance applications. In this section, the applications listed in Table 4.1 are discussed and a few examples are given from each category.

There are, however, significant challenges in obtaining sufficient energy consumption data. It has been proposed that in the future, both the manufacturer of equipment and the operator should use consistent parameters to describe the energy performance of manufacturing systems and that equipment should have standardised metering ports [39]. 

The XtraFOOD model was developed within the framework of a research project initiated by the Flemish Institute for Technological Research (VITO) [69]. The model calculates transfer of contaminants in the primary food chain (Fig. 8). In the project, the transfer model was coupled with historical food consumption data to estimate human exposure to contaminated food products. The model focuses on the terrestrial food chain. The XtraFOOD model consists of three modules, which are inter-linked ... 

Considering that the consumption pattern observed in the area of the Ebro River basin studied, which covers about half of the population living in the basin, could be representative of the whole Spanish country, the estimated average consumption data were used to calculate the annual consumption of each drug in the whole basin and in the Spanish territory. According to the extrapolated figures, which are shown in Table 2, around 21 tons of cocaine, 8 tons of cannabis, 3 tons of amphetamine and ephedrine, 300 kg of ecstasy and heroin, and 7.5 kg of methamphetamine are annually consumed in Spain. These amounts would move in the black market for around 1,100 million Euros. 

Table 12.5 shows the electric power consumption data used to calculate the energy efficiency. 

Food consumption data. The amounts of the affected foods eaten including, if necessary, consumption by sub-groups. 

In order to use the food consumption data to predict intakes of food additives it is necessary to combine them with information about the levels in foods. Data on usage have been described above and at the simplest level it is usual to use the maximum permitted levels from national or supra-national legislation. 

If the CCFAC agrees with the proposal, the additive is included on a future JECFA agenda. Prior to the next JECFA meeting, a call for data is published, and any item put forward for inclusion will be in that data call, requesting all available toxicological, specification and consumption data. 

For Western Europe, thermoplastics represent 79% of overall plastic consumption. Data for North America is perhaps higher.
