Consolidant formaldehyde resin

Injecting epoxy, furan, or furan-formaldehyde resins into poorly consolidated formations to consolidate them was a common sand control practice for thin highly productive formations (44-46). Organic solvents (46) and silane coupling agents (47) are used to promote adhesion of the resin to the rock surface. Excess resin is flushed deeper into the formation to minimize resin hardening in the flow channels since this would reduce formation permeability. [Pg.16]

Overlay Paper. Overlay paper is a-cellulose paper of high purity, with substance weight in the range 20 to 80 g m-2. An essential feature is the refractive index, which is virtually identical with that of melamine-formaldehyde resin hence, after lamination—when all the fibres of the paper are wetted and consolidated with resin devoid of air—the overlay becomes transparent. It forms a durable, hard, clear layer to protect the decorative print layer below. [Pg.118]

Fiberboards made from control and acetylated aspen fiber were made using 8% phenol-formaldehyde resin and tested in static bending. MOR increased by 15% and MOE increased by 40% in acetylated fiberboards compared to controls [39]. The acetylated boards were reported to have a more uniform density and a more consolidated surface as compared to controls. [Pg.307]

An MF resin, Kauramin CE 5549, was proposed as a consolidant for waterlogged wood and lacquerwork (Hoffmann and Wittkopper, 1999) as a replacement for Arigal C and Lyofix DML (Haas, 1969 Grattan and Clarke, 1987). The pre-polymer is applied as a solution in water. It was cured in solution using an added catalyst and heat. Butylated amino-formaldehyde resins were used as coatings, especially for ceramics (Chinaglaze) (Tennent, 1983). The resin solution is mixed with an acid catalyst before apphcation. Chinaglaze was a UF resin modified by the addition of an alkyd (phthalic acid polyester), which yellows badly. [Pg.316]

Particleboards are composed of discrete particles of wood bonded together by a synthetic resin adhesive, most commonly urea-formaldehyde or phenol-formaldehyde. The material is consolidated and the resin cured under heat and pressure. The strength of the product depends mainly upon the adhesive and not upon fiber... [Pg.1262]
