In this review we wish to complement a number of excellent reviews on CIA analysis m Advances in Conjugated Linoleic Acid Research, o sme. 1 (10) and Volume 2 (11), and elsewhere (12—16). We also wish to expand the methodologies and include the analysis of ruminant tissues that contain lipids that are generally overlooked using base-catalyzed methylation procedures. Finally, we wish to apply these methods to evaluate a variety of dairy and meat products of ruminants to demonstrate how different diets and feeding practices have impacted the FA composition.
