No flow at the front of the feeder instantaneous AI < conical outlet diameter but instantaneous RI is large/solid is pressure sensitive. [Pg.331]

The usual way to do this is by moving the mandrel in an axial direction relative to the die (Fig. 10.33). If both the die and the mandrel are provided with conical outlet features, this movement will increase or decrease the annular die gap between the two. The mandrel movements are controlled by a servo system acting on a preprogrammed thickness profile. The system may include a feedback loop to adjust parison profiling in response to screw speed variations in the extruder. [Pg.301]

Applying vibration, the handling and storage of fine powders can be promoted. That is illustrated below by means of the critical uniaxial compressive strength Oc.crit, compare Fig., and consequently the minimum outlet diameter to avoid bridging in a mass-flow hopper b,nin, Fig.. The critical outlet diameter bmin decreases v/ith increasing vibration velocity, for example, the conical outlet width is still reduced from 0.85 m to about 0.3 m. Nevertheless, at vibration velocities with more than 10 mm/s bmin remains more or less constant. [Pg.54]

Steam generator. For small scale work the steam generator D, Fig. 15, p. 33) is too cumbersome for the production of a small amount of steam. It is preferable to use a 250 ml. conical flask fitted with cork containing a vertical safety tube and an outlet-tube (Fig. 44). Care should be taken that the length of rubber tubing connecting the steam oudet tube to the flask containing the materi to be distilled should be as short as possible and should not contain kinks. [Pg.66]

Assemble an apparatus similar to that used in the prenous experiment, i.e., a 500 ml. conical flask fitted at the neck with a freshly-charged calcium chloride tube, a dropping-funnel, and in addition an outlet-tube joined to the water-pump so that dry air can be drawn through the calcium chloride tube and thence through the conical flask. The purpose of the air-stream is to remove as much as possible of the excess of hydrogen chloride. [Pg.310]

BI SERT Blenders. The design of a BINSERT blender consists of a hopper-within-a-hopper, both of which ate usually conical ia shape (Fig. 15). Particles flow through the inner hopper as well as through the annulus between the inner and outer hoppers. By varyiag the relative position of these two hoppers as well as the configuration of the outlet geometry, it is possible to achieve between a 5 1 and 10 1 velocity differential between particles ia the inner hopper compared to particles ia the outer annular region (7,17). [Pg.562]

Tanks with conical bottoms discharge cakes by gravity and those with dished bottoms have a spade that rakes and conveys the cake towards the outlet. Hence, the conical types require more headroom as compared to the dished type having the same filtration area. Conical tanks also have often an additional scavenging plate at the lower part of the cone to filter the residual slurry heel that remains below the main plates. The slurry heel that remains at the very bottom of the tank is removed through a special dip pipe to avoid discharging a wet cake. To facilitate better cake... [Pg.194]

According to Shepelev, the theoretical values of the Ki/ratio for air supply through nozzles with uniform velocity distribution at the outlet cross-section is 0.9 for compact jets and 0.95 for radial, conical, and linear jets. Practically, for different types of air diffusers, this ratio can vary from 0.7 to 3.0. [Pg.461]

The Hardinge mill, shown in Figure 2.30, is a ball mill in which the balls segregate themselves according to size. The main portion of the mill is cylindrical as in the ordinary ball mill, although the outlet end is conical and tapers towards the discharge point. The... [Pg.131]

Pressure Atomizers The commonest type of pressure atomizer is the swirl-type (Fig. 24-24). Entering a small cup through tangential orilices, the oil swirls at high velocity. The outlet forms a dam around the open end of the cup, and the oil spills over the dam in the form of a thin conical sheet, which subsequently breaks up into thin filaments and then droplets. Depending on the fuel viscosity, operating pressures range from 0.69 to 6.9 MPa (100 to 1000 psia) and the attainable... [Pg.31]
