Conductive inkjet technology

In the near future, we expect to see adoption and adaptation of inkjet technology to rapidly growing markets such as photovoltaics, OLEDs, and thin film transistors. In general, the development of flexible printed electronics for a wide range of applications is expected to take advantage of the value proposition of inkjet printing of conductive inks. [Pg.249]

In conclusion, the huge and rapidly growing markets for printed electronics are providing the motivation for new developments in the field of conductive inkjet materials and technologies. In particular, conductive inkjet inks will find their place in new generation photovoltaics, OLEDs, and flexible consumer products. Inkjet printing of electronics will continue to offer tremendous opportunities in academia and industry in order to solve problems, to improve existing applications, and even to create new apphcations enabled by novel techniques and approaches. [Pg.251]

Another major technology area that can utflize conductive IJ ink is the display market. Inkjet can be applied for both flexible and rigid displays such as electroluminescent and electrophoretic displays (including e-paper), hquid crystal displays (LCD), plasma display panels (PDP) and touch screens some functionalities have already been printed by IJ technology in certain display apphcations, for example RGB color filters. Conductive IJ is also appropriate for use in thin film transistors (TFT), disposable batteries, radio-frequency identification (RFID) tags, and a range of chemical and electronic sensors. [Pg.227]

Within the broad category of "printed electronics", there are various technologies for manufacturing conductive components, of which inkjet is one of them. These printing techniques are compared to each other in Table 3. Inkjet is the most commercially suitable of these methods for apphcations where rapid customization is required and where the substrate is dehcate or otherwise sensitive to direct contact. [Pg.229]
