By having a large number of point ion collectors in a line in a plane, many different m/z values can be recorded at the same bme (concurrently rather than sequentially, as with a single-point ion collector).

There has been a continual increase in size and complexity of PCBs with a concurrent reduction in conductor and hole dimensions. Conductors can be less than 250 p.m wide some boards have conductors less than 75 pm wide. Multilayer boards greater than 2.5 mm thick having hole sizes less than 250 pm are being produced. This trend may, however, eventually cause the demise of the subtractive process. It is difficult to etch such fine lines using 35-pm copper foils, though foils as thin as 5 pm are now available. It is also difficult to electroplate holes having high aspect ratio. These factors may shift production to the semiadditive or fully additive processes. 

When a single technique is employed only local life-cycle cost minimization is achieved. If the global life-cycle cost is to be minimized, a number of techniques have to be applied (Watson et al., 1996). In this case, tools and techniques shouldn t compete with each other, but be complementary in the product development process. The correct positioning of the various off-line tools and techniques in the product development process, therefore, becomes an important consideration in their effective usage. Patterns of application have been proposed by a number of workers over several years (Brown et al., 1989 Jakobsen, 1993 Norell, 1993) and the importance of concurrency has been highlighted as a critical factor in their use (Poolton and Barclay, 1996). 

The notion of concurrent SnI and Sn2 reactions has been invoked to account for kinetic observations in the presence of an added nucleophile and for heat capacities of activation,but the hypothesis is not strongly supported. Interpretations of borderline reactions in terms of one mechanism rather than two have been more widely accepted. Winstein et al. have proposed a classification of mechanisms according to the covalent participation by the solvent in the transition state of the rate-determining step. If such covalent interaction occurs, the reaction is assigned to the nucleophilic (N) class if covalent interaction is absent, the reaction is in the limiting (Lim) class. At their extremes these categories become equivalent to Sn and Sn , respectively, but the dividing line between Sn and Sn does not coincide with that between N and Lim. For example, a mass-law effect, which is evidence of an intermediate and therefore of the SnI mechanism, can be observed for some isopropyl compounds, but these appear to be in the N class in aqueous media. 

Coupled liquid chromatography-gas chromatography is an excellent on-line method for sample enrichment and sample clean-up. Recently, many authors have reviewed in some detail the various LC-GC transfer methods that are now available (1, 43-52). For the analysis of normal phase eluents, the main transfer technique used is, without doubt, concurrent eluent evaporation employing a loop-type interface. The main disadvantage of this technique is co-evaporation of the solute with the solvent.

Gianesello et al. (120) described the determination of the bronchodilator brox-aterol in plasma by on-line LC-GC. After deproteination and extraction, the LC separation was carried out by using a mixture of -pentane and diethyl ether (55 45 (vol/vol) as mobile phase. A small cut of the LC chromatogram (shown in Figure 11.9(a)) was introduced at 85 °C into the GC via so-called concurrent solvent evaporation. Figure 11.9(b) demonstrates that a detection limit of about 0.03 ng/ml was obtained. The concurrent flow of liquid and gas in pipe lines has received considerable study [33], [35], [37], [41], However, pressure drop prediction is not extremely reliable except for several gas pipe line conditions. The general determinadons of pressure drop for plant process lines can only he approximated. 

Two or more lines are concurrent if there is a single point which lies on all of them. The three altitudes of a triangle (if taken as lines, not segments) are always concurrent, and their point of concurrency is called the orthocenter. The angle bisectors of a triangle are concurrent at a point equidistant from their sides, and the medians are concurrent two thirds of the way along each median from the vertex to the opposite side. Concentrations of terbacil and its Metabolites A, B and C are calculated from a calibration curve for each analyte run concurrently with each sample set. A state chart can be divided into concurrent sections by a dashed line. Each of these sections is a separate simple state chart. The object is simultaneously in one state from each of the sections. No explicit invariants are needed because the two sets of states are independent. There is no paradox in this, nor necessarily any concurrent processing in the usual sense if s just that a state simply represents a Boolean expression, and there is no reason that two such statements should not be hue at the same time.
