Conclusion and Outlook for the Future

This paper provides a detailed overview of the current plastics waste management situation in Japan. It discusses material, chemical, and thermal recycling, and incineration versus landfill. It also provides a flow sheet showing recycling and the treatment/disposal of plastics waste in Japan in 1991. Conclusions are drawn, and the outlook for the future is considered. 5 refs. [Pg.90]

This review deals with both the theoretical and practical aspects of the use of ESR spectroscopy in molecular sieve science. No attempt has been made to compile an exhaustive list of references to all the work that has been published so far. Rather, we have selected what, we feel, are the most important developments and also, where possible, we have drawn examples from our own work. In a first part, the ESR technique and its extensions such as ENDOR and ESEEM, will be highlighted with special emphasis on the principles of the techniques and the instrumental requirements. Attention will also be given to spectral simulation and to quantitative analysis. In a second part, the general features of ESR spectra of transition metal ions in molecular sieves are analyzed. In addition, some remarks will be made on paramagnetic metal clusters and on paramagnetic molecules. The chapter closes with general conclusions and an outlook into the future. For detailed explanations and discussions-in-depth, we refer to several excellent text books [1-9] and review papers [10-14]. [Pg.296]

This review summarises and discusses the advances of computational photochemistry in 2012 and 2013 in both methodology and applications fields. The methodological developments of models and tools used to study and simulate non-adiabatic processes are highlighted. These developments can be summarised as assessment studies, new methods to locate conical intersections, tools for representation, interpretation and visualisation, new computational approaches and studies introducing simpler models to rationalise the quantum dynamics near and in the conical intersection. The applied works on the topics of photodissociation, photostability, photoisomerisations, proton/charge transfer, chemiluminescence and bioluminescence are summarised, and some illustrative examples of studies are analysed in more detail, particularly with reference to photostability and chemi/ bioluminescence. In addition, theoretical studies analysing solvent effects are also considered. We finish this review with conclusions and an outlook on the future. [Pg.11]

After raising a selection of topical issues in this field and briefly introducing some spectroscopic and numerical techniques to probe the hydrogen bond dynamics, recent results for alcohol clusters are presented in order of increasing complexity. They are followed by some general conclusions and an outlook on future research goals. [Pg.5]

Effective application of empirical force field based methodologies is based, in part, on the accuracy of the force field. The present article describes the functional forms of force fields used for the study of proteins. This is followed by information on the methods used for optimization of the force field parameters and how those parameters are tested. A brief conclusion includes a summary and an outlook of theoretical developments which may influence future protein force fields. The present article does not present a rigorous comparison of currently available force fields. Rather, it emphasizes the approaches used in the optimization and testing of protein force fields in order to allow the reader to select the most appropriate force field for the particular problem they are addressing. [Pg.2192]
