Concentrate processing storm water

The SBP membrane filtration system concentrates contaminants and reduces the volume of contaminated groundwater, surface water, storm water, landfill leachates, and industrial process water. This hyperfiltration system consists of stainless steel tubes coated with a multilayered membrane, which is formed in-place using proprietary chemicals. The membrane filtration system can be used with an SBP bioremediation system or another technology as part of a treatment train. 

Sheet flood (also sheetflood) 1)A broad expanse of moving, often storm-generated, water that spreads as a shallow, continuous uniform film over a large area. 2) A flow or the process of water movement in which the fluid is not concentrated in a discrete channel or defined river banks. 

Treatment of contaminated liquids such as water, leachate, filtrate, groimdwater, storm water, surface water and industrial process waste water can be accomplished by several of SBP s technologies. Certain waste streams can be concentrated by the hyperfiltration units the permeate is clean water and the "ctMicentrate" contains the reduced volume of the pollutants. These concentrated contaminants can often be bioremediated, thus minimizing the waste stream. Other liquids may be treated directly, either by biological processes, or in the case of volatiles, air stripping with biotreatment of the pollutants in a gas phase bioreactor, or "biofilter". 

Pretreatment is any process that makes final treatment more economical, feasible or effective. The final treatment may not work for certain hazardous materials unless pretreated. Pretreatment may include any form of treatment and may involve several processes in sequence. It often involves separation and may reduce the variety, volume, or concentration of contaminates. One example of pretreatment is removal of oil from storm water runoff in parking lots. Holding tanks and skimmers, sludge pits, or other means can help extract the oil from the mnoff water. 

Concentration.—The oldest, simplest and, combined with cooling, most used method of producing crystalline solids from solutions is by concentration of the solution. The oldest application is without doubt found in the evaporation of sea water for the production of sodium chloride (common salt). Prehistoric man must have learned this process from the accumulation of salts left by the evaporation of shallow pools of sea water above tide level filled during storms and concentrated to the point of crystallization by combined sun and wind. Fecal coliforms in surface waters peak after a rain event [23,34,44,88]. Subsequently, they decrease or disappear from the water column with time, through death and sedimentation processes, and may concentrate in sediments at high densities [7,49,129]. Coliform bacteria in sediments can be resuspended in shallow waters by tidal movements [87] and winds [14], dredging [59,60], storm surge [45], increased stream flow, and recreational activities such as boating [32].
