In fact, in recent years very interesting AI applications appeared in many fields but unfortunately not many in Education. This applies not only to ITS but to all Computer Aided Instruction.

Another CAI center, at the University of Illinois, Urbana, is also busily engaged in developing instructional courses in elementary chemistry. There are also some programs on more difficult subjects. The software used is the Plato III s tem where each student has a television screen and a keyset. The Plato keyset has a number of characters specially for chemists arrows to right (- -), arrows to left (- -) and for equilibrium (r ). R. C. Grandey has written a course in elementary chemistry. There are computer-aided lessons in which a student determines a chemical formula...

For any instructional design (either computer aided or conventional) we consider that the essential characteristics are to be interactive and attractive. 

The first difficulty which arises in any instructional system (either computer aided or not) is the definition of the initial state. That is, to be able to discover what the learner s knowledge is, directly or not concerned with the didactic module that we are interested in implementing, and what the learning mechanisms that the learner has available are. 

Automated process plans for each home type are generated using a computer-aided process planning (CAPP) system. Process plans show details of how the home Is to be manufactured. Such plans Include routing slips which are used to schedule the movement of material Into assigned workstations, instruction sets which direct the tools through the motions required to perform the different operations, and operation sheets which detail the sequence of events for each workstation. Process plans are transmitted electronically to a computer terminal which assigns operations to the different NC machines, robots, and other equipment at different workstations.
