To optimize the metallic effect when using an injection-molding machine, a higher screw speed, a longer plasticising period, sufficient backpressure, and a suitable screw design are prerequisites. The pigments are added as ready-to-use compounds, masterbatches, or powders.

AtNPE, Coperion Group displayed an 18-millimeter twin-screw ZSK machine to simplify scale-up to production quantities in laboratories developing plastic compounds, masterbatches and powder coatings. The concept of the internal mixer is well accepted in the rubber industry, especially for the production of masterbatch compounds. Within a variety of materials the deformation of rubber compounds is relatively difficult due to the very high viscosity.
