Table 2 presents the results of tests to measure the calorific power, ash content, and chlorides concentration of some of the materials obtained from the separation process, such as polystyrene, aluminum foil, plastic foam, and other plastics (general, clear, colored, black, and vinyl). Polystyrene and clear plastic have very high calorific power and low levels of chlorides, but polystyrene has very high ash content. Figures 10-17 present the samples of waste components from the separation and composting plant of Cantagalo. [Pg.393]

Van Harreveld measured the odour emission of a composting plant. As it was a composting plant with a surface of 4 ha it was impossible to measure the flowrate. He solved this problem in measuring the ratio mg NH3/m3 odour units/m3 in the air leewards of the plant. [Pg.31]

As it was known from other experiments that the NH3 losses per ton of compost produced were 2, 1 kg, he could calculate the emission in odour unit/s from this composting plant. [Pg.31]

In November 2004, Treofan introduced labels made from Biophan for beverages and consumer products. The Biophan labels can be used in combination with bottles produced by NatureWorks PLA so that the labels may be composted together with the bottle in an industrial composting plant. [Pg.134]

The assessment of the biodegradability of so called biodegradable plastic materials imder aerobic and anaerobic conditions is of crucial importance. With the expected increasing amounts of those materials they will be biologically treated in anaerobic treatment plants as well as in after-composting plants in the future. [Pg.300]
