Communication unsafe practice

Safety committees safety committees often consist of subcontractor, employer and worker representatives. They find out unsafe practices and problems through regular inspection and safety patrol, trust improvement, communication and interaction between the parties (Lin and Mills 2001). 

Safety and loss prevention must be ever-present in the forefront of the thoughts of employees. Providing effective visual and auditory communication with regard to safety ideas and methods can be effective in focusing attention on the important safety and loss prevention aspects of the job. With repetition and practice, the unacceptable and unsafe behaviors can be changed into acceptable safety and loss prevention behaviors if the basic elements of an effective safety and loss prevention program are in place. 

Camps also typically present conditions that lead to the disruption of cultural norms, social conventions, and community governance. Conflict and disaster in general contribute to an erosion of structures and practices regarding sexual behaviour (e.g. Muhweziet al. 2011). However, there are particular risks regarding unsafe sexual practices and transactional sex in such enviromnents. With the power that military persormel and camp staff potential have over displaced persons in camps, their sexual behaviour is an important factor that can fiirther exacerbate risk. The humanitarian efficiency of camps thus creates population density and anonymity that strains accountability and exposes populations resident there to increased risk of exploitation and abuse (Ager2012). 

Another example of a practical tool with the purpose of reducing the frequency of unsafe acts is the so-called WOC or Walk-Observe-Communicate concept. Here, managers follow a specific agenda in observing workers and approaching them to discuss their behaviour. The aim is to arrive at a commitment to follow safe work practices.
