Combustion Testing Resources

The purpose of this work is to compile testing techniques utilized in industrial combustion for use by practitioners. No such book currently exists, which means that those in this field musf consul a range of sources such as journals, magazines, and conference proceedings to get this kind of information. This is generally impractical because those practicing in the field usually do not have the time or the resources to... [Pg.761]

This report describes the two-year road test program, supported by laboratory analysis, conducted by the Canadian Combustion Research Laboratory of Energy, Mines and Resources Canada to evaluate the effectiveness of automotive exhaust lead traps. The exhaust traps were designed and built by the Du Pont Company. [Pg.88]

The anthracite coal with low ash and sulfur is superior coal resources, although it is a kind of high rank coal, it also occurs spontaneous combustioni 1 Spontaneous combustion of coal is a complicated process of the reaction between coal and oxygen, which includes the oxidation process at low temperature (T < 70°C) and accelerated reaction process (T > 70°C), and the oxidation process at low temperature is the key process of the coal spontaneous combustion prevention and the mechanism researchPi. Because of the weaker oxdability of the anthracite coal at the low-temperature oxidation process than other types of coal, most researches about the character of anthracite coal spontaneous combustion is still on accelerated reaction process, but few in low-temperature oxidation processP i. For the research of reaction mechanism function, thermal analysis technique is widely used because of the advantage on test speed and repeatability. However, the common thermal analysis apparatuses such as DSC and DTA are hard to get accurate changes of heat and mass with the... [Pg.411]

The effectiveness of landfills aeration has been tested in various countries around the world both in Europe (Germany, Austria, Italy, the Netherlands, Switzerland), North America (USA) and Asia (Japan, Malaysia) for more than 20 years. Different technical solutions, which vary primarily in the method of oxygen supply to the landfill, have been used. The selection of a relevant solution depends mainly on the final intention of its application, landfill construction, available financial resources, and legislation. In Europe, aeration is usually applied as a method for an acceleration of old landfill stabilization, commenced when the landfill gas production becomes insufficient for profitable energy recovery. Such an activity shortens the period of the residual gas production. This gas is usually released to the atmosphere because of problems with its combustion. The accelerated stabilization of waste, by a few-week aeration, is also used as the initial phase preeeding of landfill mining. It allows to obtain an evident improvement in sanitary eonditions before the workers will enter. [Pg.45]
