Column thread

The column threads are of trapezoidal cross-section. Valuable dimensions and pitches are compiled in Table 19. Equal heights are chosen for nuts and check nuts h i to 1.2 d, when = core diameter of column. The nuts are secured on the columns by flat bars to prevent slackening. [Pg.197]

It is a well-known fact that it is the first pitches of a screw that take mainly part in the transfer of forces. Over these pitches the outside diameter of the column thread is therefore provided with a slight taper so as to distribute the load as far as possible over the other pitches, too. [Pg.197]

OBasis of calculationa for recommended tool lolnt make-uo torque aaaumed the use of a thread compound containing 40-60% by weight of finely powdered metallic zinc applied thoroughly to all threads and shoulders, and a tensoe stress of 82.500 psi for column 7 and 75.000psi for columns 10.13, and 16... [Pg.759]

There are many different architectural views of a system, calling for different kinds of elements. These elements include hardware and networks, packages and their structures, object types and relationships, concurrent processes and threads, tables and columns, and the patterns that dictate how they are to be used. An architectural style, or type, defines a consistent set of elements and rules for their use. [Pg.526]

C) is the sum of the allowances for corrosion and thread cutting and it is assumed that, for preparative columns, there is no corrosion and the connections are made to the pipe by flanges, as a consequence (C) is taken to be zero. [Pg.249]

The strong points of this technique are its absence of interaction with the stationary phase, rapid dilution and the potential to recover all of the analytes. Because the technique permits the separation of nominal masses ranging from 200 to 107 Da, its main applications are in the analyses of synthetic and natural polymers. The choice of stationary phase for a given separation is made by examination of the calibration curve of various columns. The column of choice is that which provides a linear range over the masses of the compounds found in the sample. The calibration has to be conducted with the same type of polymers because macromolecules can have various forms ranging from pellet-like to thread-like. The data presented in Table 7.1 show the domains of application of the three gels shown in Fig. 7.3, depending on the standards that are used. [Pg.105]

There are two types of crusher gages exterior and interior. a)The exterior gage is attached on the outside of a closed vessel (or a barrel of a gun) by means of a mounting thread column. The attached illustration represents the US "External Crusher Gage , T14. Its usable range of measurement is 6 to 58 thousand psi with piston area 1/30 sq in. b)The interior gage is not attached, but simply placed inside a vessel or barrel. It cannot be used in small arms. The attached illustration represents the British Service Crusher Gauge (Ref 36, pp 163-64)... [Pg.119]

The resealable glass tube was fabricated from a chromatography column purchased from Ace Glass Company. The tube was permanently sealed on one end and the other end remained internally threaded. A solid, threaded, Teflon plug equipped with an 0-ring was used to seal the tube. Various sizes of such tubes are now available from Ace Glass Company. [Pg.199]

There is a second basic type of compression fitting (Fig. 3.1b), the female fitting, which you will see on occasion. Some column ends have a protruding, threaded connector and will require this type of fitting. This fitting is made... [Pg.28]

In either case, if the frit is plugged it can usually be fixed. Open the end-cap and carefully remove the frit with the column in an upright position. (If you point it the wrong way you end up with white powder on your shoes.) Put the frit in a covered flask with 20% nitric acid (6N) and sonicate it for 1-2 min. Carefully discard the acid, add distilled water, and resonicate. Keep washing with water until the water s pH reaches lab neutral. Replace the frit, blow the end-cap thread clean with a pipette to remove silica particles that can score column treads, and retighten the endcap. [Pg.82]
