FWWMR Finish. The abbreviation for fire, water, weather, and mildew resistance, FWWMR, has been used to describe treatment with a chlorinated organic metal oxide. Plasticizers, coloring pigments, fiUers, stabilizers, or fungicides usuaUy are added. However, hand, drape, flexibUity, and color of the fabric are more affected by this type of finish than by other flame retardants. Add-ons of up to 60% are required in many cases to obtain... [Pg.486]

White Pigments. Opaque white pigments commonly used in inks, in order of decreasing opacity, ate titanium dioxide and zinc oxide. TiO is by fat the most popular white pigment. Mixtures of whites ate often made with the various colored pigments to add opacity or to make pastel colors. [Pg.248]

Inorganic Color Pigments. Iron blue is made in several shades, such as Mdori blue and Pmssian blue. It is economical, but has poor alkaH resistance. It is also used as a toner in some black inks. [Pg.248]

Colorants. Pigments are the main colorants used in PVC, but some dyes are also employed (see Colorants forplastics). [Pg.327]

Mixed-Metal Oxide Pig ments. Mixed-metal oxide pigments can be considered a subcategory of complex inorganic color pigments. The name, mixed-metal oxides, does not, however, represent the reaUty as these pigments are not mixtures but rather soHd solutions or compounds consisting... [Pg.12]

Naphthol AS Coupling Components. Naphthol AS components are the aryhdes of either o-hydroxyarylcarboxycHc acids or acylacetic acids. They are free of sulfo and carboxyl groups, but form salts with bases these salts dissolve in water to give colloidal solutions, which couple with diazo components to form colored pigments. The whole class derives from the anilide of 3-hydroxy-2-naphthoic acid [92-70-6] Naphthol AS (85) (Cl Azoic Coupling Component 2). [Pg.445]

The characteristics of roUer process impingement blacks are basically similar to those of channel blacks. They have an acidic pH, a volatile content of about 5%, surface area of about 100 m /g, and an average particle diameter of 10—30 nm. The smaller particle size grades are used as color (pigment) blacks, and the 30-nm grade is used in mbber. [Pg.547]
