Cobalt blue green

When cobalt(II) chloride was dissolved in water, a pink solution A was formed. The addition of concentrated hydrochloric acid to A gave a blue solution B. If solution A was treated with concentrated ammonia solution a blue-green precipitate was formed upon addition of further ammonia solution followed by the passage of air through the mixture, an orange-red solution C was produced. 

Chrornium—cobalt—alurninum oxide [68187-11-1]—Cl Pigment Blue 36, Cl No. 77343. A blue—green pigment obtained by calcining a mixture of chromium oxide, cobalt carbonate, and aluminum oxide. It may contain small amounts (<1% each) of oxides of barium, boron, siUcon, and nickel.

Historically, as well as today, different compounds of cobalt have been used for their colors known as cobalt blue, cerulean, new blue, smalt, cobalt yellow, and green. 

Nickel sulfate forms double salts with ammonium or alkali metal sulfates. For example, blue-green hydrated ammonium nickel sulfate, (NH4)2S04 NiS04 6H20, crystallizes from a mixed solution of nickel sulfate and ammonium sulfate. Such double sulfates are isomorphous to corresponding alkali metal or ammonium double sulfates of iron, cobalt, magnesium, zinc, and other bivalent metals. 

The 0.5 M NH Cl wash of the ion exchange column is a good decontamination step for rubidium radioisotopes and also removes some cobalt and vanadium. Often, the ammonium chloride and the a-HIB solutions appear blue-green which probably results from massive amounts of copper from the target packaging. Both of these column... 

The pigment industry started in the 18th century with products such as Berlin blue (1704), cobalt blue (1777), Scheele s green, and chrome yellow (1778).
