It is used in coinage and is a standard for monetary systems in many countries. It is also extensively used for jewelry, decoration, dental work, and for plating. It is used for coating certain space satellites, as it is a good reflector of infrared and is inert. 

Diamide Chiral Separations. The first chiral stationary phase for gas chromatography was reported by GH-Av and co-workers in 1966 (113) and was based on A/-trifluoroacetyl (A/-TFA) L-isoleucine lauryl ester coated on an inert packing material. In order to increase resistance of the container to the effect of the product or to protect the product from the tin plating, an inert, internal organic coating can be appHed. 

Nylon films are used in lamination or coated form to ensure heat sealabiHty and enhance barrier properties. The largest uses are as thermoforming webs for twin-web processed meat and cheese packagiag under vacuum or in an inert atmosphere. Other uses include bags for red meat, boil-ia-bags, bag-in-box for wine, and as the outer protective layer for aluminum foil in cookie and vacuum coffee packages. 

The most common fused salt baths are complex mixtures of alkah chlorides, rigorously purified and dried. Fused salt plating must be done under an inert atmosphere. Often argon is used because nitrogen can react with some metals. Inert anodes, eg, Pt-coated titanium or graphite, are used and the plating metal is suppHed by additions of an appropriate metal salt.
