The exterior surfaces of the air-atomized sulfur coatings characteristically have an uneven, pebbly texture of the type shown in Figure 2. The uneven texture results from the impact and the flow characteristics of the sulfur droplets that accrete to form the coating as the urea particles... [Pg.28]

Air atomization, airless atomization, and ultrasonic atomization are some of the methods used to create atomized spray. While these methods differ slightly, they all are generally less selective than film coating and the... [Pg.187]

The combined airmix process operates at a lower paint pressure (2-8 MPa). Additional low-pressure air jets (0.02-0.25 MPa) from the air-cap bores impinge on the spray jet to mix and homogenize it. In addition to the atomizer and a compressed air generator (airless pump), the airmix unit therefore also requires compressed air for postatomization. Advantages over the airless method are the less sharply defined spray jet and the smaller droplet size. Compared with compressed air atomization, a low-mist coating is possible. [Pg.205]

Additionally the enzyme core may be generated with fluidized-bed spray coating. In the fluid-bed process, an inert carrier (seed) is suspended in a hot air stream within a process chamber. While the particles are suspended, an air atomized enzyme liquid is introduced into the chamber. The atomized droplets are captured on the carrier and subsequently dried. The carrier/enzyme particles pass through the atomized liquid multiple times until the desired enzyme concentration is obtained. The fluid-bed process can also be utilized to apply the functional coating to any of the enzyme core units described simply by changing from the enzyme solution to a solution of the desired coating material. [Pg.158]

Spraying n. (1) Method of application in which the coating material is broken up into a fine mist, which is directed onto the surface to be coated. This atomization process is usually, but not necessarily, effected by a compressed air jet. (2) See flying. [Pg.917]

Multicomponent spray coating. Multicomponent spray coating equipment (30 to 70% TE) is used for applying fast-curing coating system components simultaneously. Since they can be either hydraulic or air-atomizing, their transfer efficiencies vary from low to medium. They have two or more sets of supply and metering pumps to transport components to a common spray head. [Pg.879]
