Clostridium perfingens

Seven different bacterial sialidases, including six commercially available sialidases from Arthrobacter ureafaciens, Clostridium perfingens. Streptococcus sp. IID, Vibrio cholera. Salmonella typhimurium, and Streptococcus pneumoniae, as well as PmSTl which also possesses sialidase activity (20), were used as model systems to test the application of the sialoside library and the 96-well plate based high-throughput colorimetric screening method.

Other toxins produced by Clostridium species have been shown to have immunomodulatory activities. The Type D toxin produced by Clostridium botulism inhibits the production of TNF-a by LPS stimulated human monocytes. Additionally, the Clostridium perfingens delta toxin has been shown to be cytotoxic to rabbit macrophages, but not to thymocytes. ... 

We have recently prepared vaccines of Clostridium perfingens toxoid, and tetanus toxoid emulsified with [dl]-a-tocopherol and immunized mice, chicks and lambs with such vaccines without adverse reactions.
