Other types of drugs using this delivery system are clonidine and timolol (antihypertensives).estradiol (postmenopausal prophylaxis), fentanyl (opiate analgesic), and nicotine ("the patch"). 

Clonidine is used in the management of hypertension, attention-deficit hyperactivity disorder, opiate or nicotine withdrawal, vascular headache prophylaxis, and as an aid in the diagnosis of pheochromocytoma. It is also used as an epidural infusion for pain management. 

Clonidine [ban, inn, usan] (clonidine hydrochloride [inn. usan] Catapres Dixarit ) is an imidazoline derivative, a (selective a2-subtype) o-adrenoceptor agonist. It can be used (orally or transdermally) as an antihypertensive (probably acting within the CNS). It has formerly been used in ANTIMIGRAINE prophylaxis, clonidine hydrochloride clonidine. 

Membrane permeation-controlled transdermal drug delivery (Fig. 5.2) has been successfully applied in therapeutic systems for scopolamine (prevention of motion sickness for a 3-day period), nitroglycerin (prophylaxis against attack of angina pectoris over a 24-h period), clonidine (control of hypertension for a 7-day period), and fentanyl (control of constant pain for 72 h).
