The National Institute for Public Health and Environment (RIVM) in the Netherlands carries out periodical analysis to record the distribution of human and veterinary medicines in drinking water. In 2002 and 2003 [14] during measurements, there were remainders of four active substances found in drinking water and drinking water sources. These four medicines were (acetyl)salicylic acid, carbamazepine, clofibric acid, sulfamethoxazol.
