Flour clear

What is, and how can you calculate, extraction rate What are the differences among straight grade, patent, and clear flours ... [Pg.221]

Clear fiour Name of the low-quality wheat flour obtained in the last stages of the milling process (last reduction rolls). The flour has lower quality in terms of color, mechanically damaged starch, and higher amounts of ash and fat. When a patent flour is fabricated, the clear flour is removed from the straight-grade flour. [Pg.676]

Filthy conditions, due to rodent or insect population, may be observed in a grain warehouse. The inspector notes rat-chewed flour sacks and sacks contaminated with rat excrement. He removes a sample of sacking and flour from such contaminated areas and submits them to the analyst. Urine fluoresces under ultraviolet light. Where rodent urine is to be confirmed, the xanthydrol test is one of several that may be used. Excreta pellets may be moistened with water or an appropriate clearing solution and crushed for observation under the compound microscope. The presence of striated hair fragments indicates rodent excrement. [Pg.66]

It will be clear from the above that the optimum types of oxidising materials are those of highest density and dense forms of ammonium nitrate are always used. The combustibles can be dense also, although it is sometimes necessary to add at least a proportion of the combustible in an absorbent form to ensure adequate sensitiveness. Wheat flour may be regarded as typical of a dense combustible woodmeal is a useful and cheap combustible of intermediate properties. [Pg.54]

A Hunter Color and Color Difference Meter was used to evaluate flour color. The effect of roasting condition on Hunter L values of flours indicated that lightness values (L) decreased with increased roasting temperature and time with all navy bean cotyledonary fractions possessing a clear light appearance. [Pg.195]

Note C Since expls contg flour are difficult to extract with water, mix the entire ether insol residue with water and transfer quantitatively to a 250-ml volumetric flask. Dilute to the mark, mix, and let settle. Save an aliquot portion of the clear, supernatant liquid to det the salts present... [Pg.526]

Acidity.—5 grams of the flour and 25 c.c. of 90% alcohol, neutralised exactly with N/20-caustic soda solution, are shaken at intervals during a day in a cylinder with a ground stopper. After standing overnight, 10 c.c. of the clear liquid are titrated with N/20-caustic soda in presence of phenolphthalein or tincture of turmeric.2... [Pg.57]

The result of irradiation clearly depends on the nature of the flour. The amylose component of starch suffers the least change. Overall changes in polysaccharide fraction are linear with the radiation dose.212-217-218... [Pg.291]

The two hydrogens are equivalent, as are the two fluorines. Since we can only examine the NMR spectrum of one isotope at a time, can you predict the appearance of the H spectrum of this compound Because there are two neighboring flour-ines (i.e., within three bonds), the hydrogen signal is split into a triplet (intensity ratio 1 2 1), and the spacing between the lines will be 2/HF. This is an example of two-bond heteronu-clear coupling because it occurs between different isotopes or different elements. [Pg.118]
