The CPL oligosaccharides always have a (J-(l - 4) linkage between the Gal-2 and Xyl residues and a 3-0 -> 3) linkage between Gal-3 and Gal-2, and HexA and Gal-3. Chondroitinase ABC from Proteus vulgaris was purchased from Sigma Chemical Company. All inorganic chemicals were reagent grade.

Effect of chondroitinase ABC. This enzyme (chondroitin ABC lyase, EC A.2.2.A.) also depolymerizes the hyaluronic acid backbone of aggregate. In addition, it can degrade chondroitin sulfate chains of monomer, but not its keratan sulfate chains.
