Chlorsulphonic acid

Xylan sulphates, known also as pentosan polysulphates (PPS), are permanently studied with regard to their biological activities [3,419-422]. Usually, sulphuric acid, sulphur trioxide, or chlorsulphonic acid are employed as sul-phating agents alone or in combination with alcohols, amines or chlorinated hydrocarbons as reaction media [423]. [Pg.52]

Heparins and heparinoids are grouped in Table 3.2. Some are naturally occurring compounds, whilst others are derivatives prepared from heparins or from mucopolysaccharides. Semi-synthetic compounds have been prepared by degradation of natural polysaccharides followed by sulphation with chlorsulphonic acid or methyl sulphate . The common activities shown by the heparins and heparinoids—complexing with organic bases and proteins, antilipaemic activity and anticoagulant activity—are also shown by various sulphonic acid dyes and by polyphosphates. The table is completed with a list of those preparations that have been issued to provide depot preparations of heparins and heparinoids. [Pg.142]

Treatment of 3,3-dibromocamphor with bromine and chlorsulphonic acid (conditions under with 3,3,8-tribromocamphor is formed), followed by working-up the crude reaction mixture with zinc and hydrobromic acid to effect selective debromination, provided 8-bromocamphor (456) in a regiospecificprocess. Prolonged treatment of c(,/-camphor with excess BF3, OEt2 and ethyl diazoacetate in ether afforded a 2 1 mixture (63 % yield) of the camphene derivatives (457) and (458). Reaction of the mixture with zinc dust and glacial acetic acid at reflux gave (457) in essentially quantitative yield from (458). ... [Pg.360]
