Chemical/Physical. The following compounds were identified as metabolites in rice plants after treatment with chlorphenamidine 7V-(4-chloro-o-tolyl)-7V-methyl formamidine, 7V-formyl-4-chloro-o toluidine, and 4-chloro-o toluidine (Lizuka and Masuda, 1979).

Diazonium compds, such as diazotized 4-chloro o-toluidine treated with Na2S, NaHS or Na polysulfide solns, form dangerous expls (Ref 1), Hodgson (Re f 2) reported that the addn of o-nitrophenyldiazonium chloride to N S2 soln at 0° gives a red ppt which explodes when touched with a glass rod. Similarly, when diazotized m-chloroaniline is added dropwise to Na2S2 soln, every drop reacts violently... 

Chlorphenamidine has mainly an ovicidal action, but it acts in all the developmental stages of mites. In plant tissues it can be moderately translocated. Its acute oral for rats is 33S mg/kg. The metabolites of chlorphenamidine include N -(4-chloro-2-methylphenyl) formamidine, 4 -chloro-o-formotoluidine and 4 -chloro-o-toluidine (Chang and Knowles, 1977).
